The rocky areas of the upper slopes and the crumbling sections of stone wall are covered in mosses.

This photo shows two types of moss: the fern-like one is common tamarisk moss (Thuidium tamariscinum) and the spikier one is bank haircap moss (Polytrichum formosum).

These mosses are both common in damp woodland across Britain.
