Blue bugle (Ajuga reptans) grows in the woodland clearings and provides a nectar source for two dozen different species of butterly, including fritillaries and skippers.  The flower shape can be described as resembling a skirted lady.

Bugle is also known as Carpenter’s Herb due to its supposed ability to stem bleeding.
