Rudely awakened

Tent once fawn had bolted
Tent once fawn had bolted

In June we camped in the wood for the first time.  Throwing the tent bag to the side whilst erecting the tent, we disturbed a roe deer fawn lying in a dip.  It shot off into the wood, so we hope its mother found it again.

It turned out to be quite a rainy night, and we were disturbed at intervals by, what sounded like, various large animals wandering past.

At dawn we were woken by a strange squawking, which we now know to be the barking of a muntjac deer – YouTube can provide a soundtrack.
