Blue Roundhead Mushroom

Blue Roundhead, October.
Blue Roundhead, October.

What a lovely mushroom, nestling under the hazel just off the clearing. Now protected by one of Carol’s patent mesh constructions in case we get clumsy or accidentally fell something on to it.

Comparison with the pictures in books (we like the ‘Collins Comptete’ guide) suggests it’s a Blue Roundhead (Stropharia caerulea) but as always don’t take my word for it. I’m pleased with the picture, almost all my photos on the blog are just auto shots on the iPhone. It’s pretty dark under the tree but somehow the software archieves results like this.
