The parasitic wasps are so called because females implant their eggs into the caterpillars of butterflies and moths. When the eggs hatch the larvae feed on the body of the host caterpillars.

Adult ichneumons feed on nectar and aphid honeydew. And this one was trying to drink my cup of tea in the clearing.
