Fistulina hepatica is a red bracket fungus that looks similar to a slab of raw meat.   Furthermore, when damaged, it bleeds convincingly.

These brackets are fairly common.  This example was found growing from a living oak halfway up the hill.

By the way, even if you did dare eat it, the taste is supposed to be quite sour.
