Nuts oh hazelnuts

We keep an eye on hazelnut shells around the wood to see if any of them show signs of being eaten by dormice or voles.  Rodents chew a circular hole in the side of the nut.

The hazelnuts found on this tree stump are likely to have been smashed by squirrels, or possibly woodpeckers.
