Green elfcup

Blue-green wood
Blue-green wood

Green elfcup (Chlorociboria aeruginascens or aeruginosa) causes infected wood to become blue-green, as described by decoding the Latin: “chloro” green, “ciborim” goblet,  “aerug” (blue-green) and “ascens” (becoming).

The fungus produces cup-shaped fruiting bodies but so far we have only found the tell-tale stained wood.
