This is the time of year where every blade of grass or leaf in the clearing has an insect sitting proprietorially upon it.  Most of these species are new to me, so it was good to find shield bugs that I recognised as brassica bugs (Eurydema oleracea).

These brassica bugs have white dots that change to white, red or orange in older bugs.

The adults and nymphs are keen consumers of brassicas both cultivated and wild.  Jack-in-the-hedge is the food source for this little cluster.
