Tawny owl

This tawny owl (Strix aluco) flew down and stuck its head down a vole hole. It had a poke around then bobbed up and flew off.

We assume the vole escaped.  Almost as good as Springwatch!

Now we know there is one (or possibly a pair) in the wood we’ll listen out for their distinctive toowit-toowoo call:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BR2Ivk_EFA
